The last time Ghettosvend released a track under his own name was in 2001 with “Hej Piger!” – 24 years ago. The new track “På Boulevarden” features guest rappers K.A.W & Giraffen, who always rap in Danish. The two are old friends and well-known figures from the hip-hop group Kongehuset, but why aren’t the other members taking part?
Well, Kongehuset still meets up from time to time in a summer house to make beats, rhymes, and food. Back in October 2019, it was only possible to gather the three who appear on this track, and since the gathering coincided with Ghettosvend’s birthday, the two rappers decided that a tribute was in order. Incidentally, the last time Ghettosvend received an official birthday tribute was on “Kongen Af Kvarteret” from Kongehuset’s first album “…Klarer Ærterne” from 1996.
The beat on “På Boulevarden” is heavy and bare, letting the rappers stand out sharply with the surprising, catchy punchlines that characterize Kongehuset’s rappers. Danish rap at its finest!
